What We Support
In all of its grant making, the Foundation seeks to support charitable organizations in the U.S. and Canada with: strong staff and board leadership; effective financial management; a commitment to working in partnership with other nonprofits, government, and business; and an understanding of the interconnectedness of the challenges facing people who are economically vulnerable and the ability to address those challenges in a holistic way. In the U.S., organizations must have 501(c)(3) status and in Canada, organizations must be registered as charities with the CRA.

Grant Process
Grants decisions are made three times a year at Board of Directors meetings according to the following application deadline schedule. Please note the Board will consider one application per organization per calendar year. For example, if you apply for funding ahead of the January 15 grant deadline, we respectfully request you do not attempt to submit another application until the same grant cycle the following year regardless of the outcome of your initial application. Applications must be received by 5:00pm Eastern Time (ET) on the deadline date in order to be considered. The 2027 grant cycles will open up in mid-late November 2026.
- January 15 for the February meeting
- May 15 for the June meeting
- September 15 for the October meeting
